Section 2, Chapter 1 - TCAS Clarification Flashcards

1
Q

What are the responsibilities of air traffic controllers when a pilot reports a TCAS RA (Resolution Advisory)?

A

Cease Responsibility: Once an aircraft departs from an ATC clearance due to a TCAS RA, controllers are no longer responsible for providing separation between that aircraft and any others affected by the RA.

No Modifications: Controllers must not attempt to modify the aircraft’s flight path or repeat previous instructions until the pilot reports “Clear of Conflict.”

Traffic Information: If providing traffic information, controllers must consider:
* The delay between surveillance display information and real-time events.
* The potential cockpit workload and distractions caused by traffic information.
