Section 2, Chapter 2 - Radar Separation Standards Flashcards

Q
What are the radar separation minima for different types of targets near Belfast and Crowhill?
A
Less than 40 NM from ARP:
- Belfast PSR and SSR: 3 NM
- Belfast PSR only: 3 NM
- Belfast SSR only: 5 NM
- Crowhill ORRD SSR only: 5 NM
Less than 60 NM but more than 40 NM from ARP, inside CAS, and below FL195:
- All targets: 5 NM

Q
What are the conditions for reducing longitudinal separation on reciprocal tracks using ATS surveillance system derived information?
A
- Communication and Control: Both aircraft must be in communication with and under the control of EGAA APS (same controller and frequency).
- Surveillance System: ATS surveillance system derived information can be used to determine that the aircraft have passed each other.
- Horizontal Separation: There is no requirement to ensure minimum horizontal separation before reducing minimum vertical separation.
- Wake Turbulence: Greater minima might be required for wake turbulence separation purposes.
