Any abiotic or biotic factor that restricts the numbers, reproduction, or distribution of organisms
Limiting Factor
A group of interacting populations that occupy the same area at the same time.
Community
The ability of any organism to survive when subjected to abiotic factor or biotic factors
Tolerance
The condition of the atmosphere at a specific place and time
Weather
The distance of any point on the surface if the earth north or south from the equator.
Latitude
The average weather conditions in an area, including temperature and precipitation
Climate
A treeless biome with a layer of permanently frozen soil below the surface called permafrost.
Tundra
A biome that is characterized by fertile soils that are able to support a thick cover of grasses
Temperate Grasslands
An area where the rate of evaporation exceeds the rate of precipitation; exists on every continent but Europe.
Desert
The biome with the largest amount of rainfall
Tropical Rain Forest
Material that is deposited by water, wind, or glaciers
Sediment
The area closest to the shore
Littoral Zone
Free floating photosynthetic autotrophs that live in freshwater and marine ecosystems
Plankton
The deepest areas of a large lake
Profundal Zone
The area shallow enough that sunlight is able to penetrate
