- We must maintain transparency to enhance and maintain the trust of the people we serve
- Lack of compliance can lead to injunctive relief and punitive lawsuits and cause the public to
question their ability to trust the CHP - Procedures for handling PRA requests:
DO NOT:
• Ask for ID or ask if from press
• Ask for a reason
• State releasable info not releasable
• State info is only releasable to press DO:
• Maintain CHP 370C in lobby
• Train personnel to be HELPFUL
• Track each request using 520 log
• Assist in narrowing requests
• Advise 10 calendar day timeline - All requests, except ARREST LOG ONLY, will be forwarded to Office of Risk Management
As a CAPTAIN I will:
- Ensure all relevant personnel (including myself) are well versed in PRA
- Hold myself and others accountable to using the established procedure
- Ensure Departmental Organizational Values (FREE) are applied to EVERY contact made.
