- Get as much info over the phone as possible. Notify Chief/Entac/ACF
- Find out who Sgt is and contact. Ascertain if officer is ok. Find out additional details.
- Respond. Ensure I have a CHP 328 (On Scene Checklist/Discharge of Firearm) to utilize
- Ascertain if all first responder duties have been accomplished. If necessary assume IC responsibilities:
1. ICS has been established/Command Post
2. Secure the scene, establish perimeter
3. How many officers shot/involved/injured
4. Notify allied agency to conduct criminal
5. Resources needed…Caltrans/County Roads/AMR/additional officers for perimeter/MAIT
6. Injured officers, who is at the hospital with them
7. Assign officers to each shooter, engage in conversation but not about shooting..Do not isolate
8. Do not take guns until a replacement
9. Scribe to log all personnel and entry/deny access
10. PIO for media/Assign location
11. CIIT Team
12. Outstanding suspects/BOLO/Direction
13. Ensure Commander is the one to give press briefings
14. Advise employee of legal rep or supervisor
15. Critical incident debrief
16. 121 paperwork
17. 72 hour psych doctor
My job is to continually update the chief, take care of my people, provide leadership and ensure resources are properly deployed, respond to the hospital, support the officer/family.
