What is in the pilot card

A

Particulars: name, call sign, Flag

Dimension: length breadth, displacement, draught fwd and aft, air draught

Anchor: Cable length, anchors and type

Steering particulars: Number and type of rudders, time hard over to Hard over, Max angle, Thrusters

Propellors: Number and type

Main engines: How many, RPM and speeds at each engine order. Time from full ahead to full astern

Equipment status: (bridge equip) Speed log, compasses and errors, radar and arpa.

What is on the wheel house poster

A

Part 1

Ships Particulars: Name, call sign, Displacement (gross&net)

Steering: Type, number rudders, Max angle, Time with 1 or 2 pumps

Draughts: Increase of draft when heeled, Draught with squat at different speed

Anchors: Number, Shackles

Thruster: power, Time delays

Propulsion: Same as pilot card

Part 2
Diagrams of:
- Turning Characteristics at max rudder
- Stopping Distances
- Emergency Manouvers

Correct procedure for setting up a pilot ladder

A

Responsible officer must over sea rigging if ladder and ensure that it is secure, follow company sop
Adequately lit by forward facing light out board and inboard
Accommodation Ladders must be secured so they are free from movement
Life ring with light, buoyant heaving line, officer with communications to the bridge
Officer escort pilot up to the bridge

Voyage Plan:

Masters Duty with regard to Pilot Transfers

A
  • Arrangements must meet SOLAS requirements
  • Equipment Maintained, stowed and regularly inspected
  • Ladders only used for embarkation and disembarkation of pilot or other officials
  • Master must nominate an OOW to be responsible for supervising transfers
