1. Send application with supporting documents to Register General of Shipping and seamen.
2. If satisfactory the register general will send a Carvings and Markings note.
3. Once received then vessel has 21 days to permanently affix the vessels name, port of registry, gross and net tonnage and draft marks to the vessel in a conspicuous and visible location.
   Name on the bow and stern, Draft marks fore and aft, Port of registry on the stern, Gross and net tonnage with the vessels official number on the ships main beam or other permanent fixture where it is visible.
4. Once complete a surveyor (usually class society) will inspect and sign off the carvings and marking note then send it back to the Register general.
5. Vessel issued with Certificate of British registry.
