Shipowners liability of wages and medical care due to sickness or injury
- Must Pay wager to Seafarer whilst onboard or put ashore up until they recover
- Wages will be paid until recovery, Expiration of the SEA, or 16weeks have elapsed which ever is sooner.
- Must pay for medical care, board and lodging. These costs must be met until recovery or until incapacity is declared permanent
Owners Repatriation requirements
Repatriation must happen as soon as possible and at no cost to the seafarer in the following:
- SEA expires
- Seafarer is terminated
- Seafarer terminates the SEA in accordance with the terms of the SEA
- Seafarer is unable to carry out duties required by the SEA
