Pharmacology of ANS and NMJ Flashcards
what is more useful- targeting postganglionic sympathetic and parasympathetic synapses or manipulating autonomic ganglia
targeting
alpha 1 agonists are used for
decongestants and dilating the pupil
alpha 2 agonists are used in
treatment of hypertension
beta 2 agonists are used in
treatment of asthma
beta 1 agonists are used in
treatment of hypertension, angina and cardiac arrhythmia
muscarinic receptor agonists will
mimic the effect of the parasympathetic system ie slow heart rate, contract smooth muscle in airways and bladder, increase salivation etc
musacrinic receptor antagonists will
block effects of the parasympathetic system ie increase heart rate, relax smooth muscle in airways and bladder, descrease salivation etc
