Q

How did the citric acid cycle evolve

A

To harvest electrons that could then be used to completely oxidise food molecules to CO2 and H2O

Q

What is an anaplerotic reaction

A

A build up of a product triggers the activation of an enzyme that triggers another reaction eg build up of acetylCoA activating pyruvate carboxylase which converts pyruvate to oxaloacetate
