PA 2 Flashcards

1
Q

What makes you unique?

A

I’m 45 years old and bring a lifetime of diverse experiences to the table. I’ve maintained a strong marriage with my wife for over 20 years, which has taught me about commitment, teamwork, and empathy. I also served as an NYPD sergeant, leading a team of officers who relied on me for guidance under stress. These experiences shape my leadership style and reinforce my passion for helping others. I believe this blend of maturity, stability, and proven responsibility sets me apart as a future PA.

Q

What makes you unique?

A

I’m 45 years old and have been married for over 20 years, which has taught me about commitment and teamwork. I served as a sergeant in the NYPD, leading officers who counted on me for guidance and support. Now, I’m back in school pursuing a Biochemistry degree in my 40s, driven by a passion for healthcare. These experiences have shaped my resilience, leadership skills, and adaptability. I believe they set me apart and will serve me well as a Physician Assistant.

Q

Discuss a pastime you enjoy.

A

I love staying informed, so reading the newspaper is a big part of my day. It helps me keep up with what’s happening in the world. I also go to basketball games with friends when I can—it’s a fun way to unwind and connect. Another pastime I enjoy is diving into science podcasts on topics like neuroscience and longevity. It’s both relaxing and motivating, and I often share what I learn with my family, which sparks lively dinner-table conversations.

Q

Tell me what your typical day looks like.

A

I usually wake up around 5:50 in the morning to make my son an egg sandwich before his bus arrives at 6:25. Depending on the day, I leave for class, head to the NYU lab, or work an EMT shift between 7 and 8. I return home in the early evening, around 7 or 8, to spend a couple of hours with my family. One of my favorite moments is reading to my daughter before she goes to bed. My schedule is busy, but it keeps me grounded and prepares me for the demands of PA school.

Q

Why do you want to be a PA

A

I saw firsthand how a lack of resources and support can break a family. My father’s bipolar disorder and my mother’s brain tumor showed me how overwhelming it can be when you don’t have access to adequate care. Those early experiences taught me compassion, empathy, and a deep drive to change things for people in need.
