What aspects of the University (Formerly College) of Mount Saint Vincent Physician Assistant Program have had the greatest influence on your decision to apply to the program? Please be and clear in your response
The University of Mount Saint Vincent Physician Assistant Program’s mission caught my attention because it aligns with my personal and professional experiences. Growing up, I suffered with persistent ear infections without appropriate treatment, which finally resulted in permanent hearing loss. I so know what it is to have restricted access to healthcare. My 21-year career as an NYPD sergeant exposed me to the urgent needs of underserved communities. I saw firsthand how compassionate care can change lives. That’s why Mount Saint Vincent’s focus on holistic, patient-centered training resonates with me. Plus, the program’s emphasis on evidence-based practice mirrors my research background studying disease at the molecular level. I believe this combination of academic rigor and compassion will help me become a PA who truly serves people in need. It is why I am drawn to the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
Please carefully explain how your undergraduate or graduate level academic collegiate experience has prepared you for the academic challenges you may encounter at the University (Formerly College) of Mount Saint Vincent Physician Assistant Program. Please be specific in your response
My academic journey has not been easy. In the past, I struggled to balance full-time work with college classes. I did not have the right time-management skills or mindset to succeed. Over time, I looked closely at my habits, found my motivation, and set clear goals. Through this reflection, I learned how to push myself toward what I truly want. Now, I manage my time effectively, which helps me handle my studies and responsibilities with more discipline. Since 2021, I have completed 75 credits while majoring in biochemistry, earning a 3.85 GPA and a spot on the Dean’s List. My work in cancer-related research also improved my critical thinking and evidence-based methods. These achievements show that I am prepared to meet the high standards of Mount Saint Vincent’s PA Program and make a positive contribution.
What attributes will you bring to the Physician Assistant Program that will have a positive influence on class cohesiveness and will foster an atmosphere of cooperation among other students in your class.
When I served as a police officer and sergeant, I led a team of officers and learned the value of clear communication and mutual respect. I saw how a supportive environment brings out the best in everyone. Overcoming my own academic obstacles let me relate to people who suffer, and along the road I acquired good time-management and study techniques. Sharing those abilities with my colleagues excites me. A strong group dynamic requires, in my opinion, supporting others. In the same manner I led my law enforcement squad, I hope the Physician Assistant Program promotes cooperation and harmony. Helping to build a community where everyone feels inspired, supported, and appreciated is my aim.

When I was in college the first time, balancing full-time work with classes was tough, and it really affected my grades. I didn’t have the time-management or study skills I needed to succeed. I left school for some time, then returned with a new outlook and a strategy. I started by creating a strict schedule that set aside specific times for studying, work, and family. I left school for some time, then returned with a new outlook and a strategy. By breaking big goals down into smaller, manageable tasks made things less overwhelming. Thanks to this new approach, I finished 75 credits with a 3.85 GPA. This experience showed me how, with the right focus and planning, I can overcome challenges and do well in a demanding academic setting.
