PA 12 Flashcards
- What is your biggest strength?
My biggest strenght is knowing my purpose. Before I do something I know the reason why I am doing it and what I want to achieve or what my outcome is. By knowing this I dont get caught up with reacting to the situation.
My biggest strength is my ability to manage time effectively. I’ve worked full-time as a police sergeant while taking classes and later juggled my EMT shifts and Biochemistry studies. This experience taught me to prioritize responsibilities, stay organized, and remain focused under pressure. In PA school, I know I can handle the heavy workload without feeling overwhelmed, and I’ll be ready to help classmates who might be struggling with the pace.
- What makes you stand out compared to other candidates?
What sets me apart from other applicants is my extensive real-world experience. With 20 years in the NYPD, I’ve honed the ability to actively listen, communicate effectively, and empathize with diverse individuals in challenging situations. Being married for over two decades and raising two children has also strengthened my interpersonal skills, maturity, and patience. On top of that, I have genuine enthusiasm for medicine—I’m truly excited about learning how the body works, understanding disease processes, and helping diagnose and treat patients
- What is the best thing about your personality?
I’d say it’s my optimism and willingness to help others. I like to keep things positive, whether it’s by offering a kind word, sharing a joke, or just lending an ear to someone who’s having a rough day. This positive mindset is something I plan to bring into the classroom and the clinical setting, helping both patients and teammates feel supported.
- What would your last employer say about you?
My last employer would probably mention my dependability and compassion. As a sergeant, I had to ensure the well-being of my officers, handle emergencies, and still remain approachable for anyone who needed to talk. They’d likely say I’m someone who cares about the people I work with and goes the extra mile to make sure everyone feels respected.
- Why should we choose you?
My experiences in law enforcement and healthcare have deeply shaped me, teaching me the value of putting service before self. Through these roles, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to connect genuinely with people, especially during their toughest moments. This has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, stay calm and focused under pressure, and pay close attention to details when it matters most. I’m eager to bring these qualities to PA school—not just to excel academically, but also to support my classmates and learn together. The skills I’ve developed in managing critical situations and showing empathy have truly prepared me to take this next step in my healthcare journey.
