PA 15 Flashcards

Q

What will be your greatest challenge in completing PA school?

A

Balancing a demanding course load with my family life will be my biggest challenge. I have two children, and making sure I give them enough attention while staying on top of the intense curriculum is a real concern. However, I’ve done this before—working in law enforcement while returning to school—and it taught me how to manage my time effectively. I’m confident I can handle the workload because I’ve proven I can balance responsibilities under pressure.

Q

Is there anything that you foresee preventing you from completing the program?

A

I don’t see any major obstacles that would stop me from finishing. My family is fully supportive and understands the commitment I’m making. I’ve also built strong study habits and coping strategies for stress. I believe these factors will carry me through the toughest parts of PA school.

Q

How do you study best?

A

I learn best by breaking down complex material into my own words. I also use flashcards to quiz myself on key points, which helps me reinforce what I’ve learned and active recall.

Q

Tell me about a time you struggled academically.

A

Early in college, I had to juggle full-time work and a busy schedule. That led to lower grades and withdrawals. When I returned to school later, I focused on time management and asked for help when I needed it. As a result, my grades improved, and I learned the value of consistency and discipline.

Q

Do you study best individually or in a group?

A

I start on my own, making sure I understand the basics. Then I love joining a small study group to talk through tricky topics. Teaching others and hearing different perspectives really cements my understanding.

Q

Do you work better as an individual or with a team?

A

I’m comfortable either way. Working alone lets me focus deeply on certain tasks, but I truly enjoy team settings where everyone shares ideas. In a healthcare environment, collaboration is key, so I’m ready to adapt to whichever style benefits the group the most.

Q

How do you handle blood and gore?

A

I’ve handled plenty of graphic situations both as an EMT and during my time in law enforcement. At first, it was startling, but I learned to stay focused on what the patient needs. Now, I’m comfortable dealing with blood and injuries because I see them as challenges that require quick thinking and calm action. If there’s ever a moment, I feel uneasy, I take a deep breath and remind myself that I’m there to help, which keeps me grounded and ready to handle the situation.
