PA 19 Flashcards
- What are your plans if not accepted to a PA program this year?
I’d continue gaining clinical experience as an EMT and look for volunteer opportunities in different healthcare settings. I’d also see if I could expand my research background at NYU or take advanced science courses to strengthen my application. Ultimately, I’d apply again next cycle, more prepared and determined than ever.
- How do you plan on improving yourself if not accepted into PA school?
I’d focus on addressing any gaps in my application. If needed, I’d retake or add higher-level coursework to boost my GPA. I’d also spend more time shadowing PAs in various specialties, so I can deepen my understanding of the profession and stand out in my next application.
- What would you do if you were not selected for this program?
I’d first ask for feedback to identify specific areas for growth. Then I’d strengthen those areas—whether it’s more clinical hours, extra certifications, or refining my interview skills. I’d reapply with that new experience and knowledge, demonstrating my commitment to becoming a PA.
- What is the difference between the nursing model and the medical model?
The nursing model focuses on a patient’s overall needs, including daily care, comfort, and emotional support. In contrast, the medical model centers on diagnosing and treating disease. Both approaches are vital for quality care, but they emphasize different aspects of patient well-being.
- Did you consider becoming a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?
I did think about it, but I realized I’m drawn to the medical model’s focus on diagnosing and treating. At the same time, I appreciate the holistic mindset nurses bring, and I believe PAs should incorporate that empathy and patient-centered approach into their practice as well.
