How do you determine appropriate Decon?

A

Follow advice of Scientific Advisor or HAZMAT techs regarding the most appropriate on-scene decontamination process

Warning Tag Colour Codes

A

RED - Use for items contaminated with a chemical that require specialist cleaning, and may present a risk to operational crews or cleaning contractors, or where the effectiveness of decontamination is uncertain

YELLOW - Use for items that have had the contaminant removed, however the items still need to be industrially cleaned

GREEN - Use for items that have been decontaminated on site, and ready for use.

NOTE: If equipment can be placed directly back onto an appliance once decontaminated on site, there is no need to use a green tag

Transporting equipment with coloured tags

A

RED - Transport double bagged BA sets, PPC or equipment back to station using a District Car or General Purpose POD, where Scientific Advisor or HAZMAT techs have advised it is safe to do so

YELLOW - Place bagged items in the PPC compartment (Heavy Pumper), plastic case or lockers (securely stowed) for transport back to station for further cleaning or storage. Do NOT place bagged items in appliance cabin. Consider using a District Car or General Purpose POD for transport where numerous sets require transporting.

GREEN - Transport all items with a green tag in accordance with usual processes.
