FERG - Operations officer
- Brief the IC on current strategies when handing over control

FERG - Planning Officer
- Identify current objectives, strategies and resources required

- Monitor resources requested, en route, allocated to, and released from the incident
- Provide info to Public Info Officer and IMT (sitreps)
- Develop Comms Plan
- Prepare report for IC at incident conclusion

- Safety Officer is not a functional role but reports directly to the IC
- Provide advice on safety and overall H&S of personnel at incident
- Liaise with IC and Safety Officers in the field
- Ensure that IC and IMT focus on safety
- Review and provide input to IAP

FERG - Sector Commander
- Implement portion of IAP relevant to their sector
- Allocate and manage resources within sector
- Report to OO on progress of operations, emerging risks and status of resources including personnel
- Sector names can be either Geographical or Functional ie: Staging, Evacuation, HAZMAT
- Facilitate AAR for sector when required

FERG - Staging Officer
- Establish staging area and communication with OO
- Establish all appliances and personnel on scene
- Deploy resources requested by OO

- Liaise with the OO on BA strategies and tactics and provide periodic status reports
- Supervise BA entry points, BA service and all BA requirements
- Nominate person in charge and distinctive identification for each BA entry
- Set up the Emergency Signal Unit (ESU) for BA Stage 2 incidents
- Ensure adequate personnel dressed in BA for relief and emergency intervention

FERG - HAZMAT Sector Commander
- Develop and implement hazmat strategies and tactics to support IC
- Coordinate detection, analysis and atmospheric monitoring
- Establish and maintain technical/mass decontamination structure and procedures

- Consider commissioning HAZMAT technicians and BA technicians

FERG - Rehabilitation Officer
- Establish rehab sector remote from fireground
- Provide shelter, seating and facilities as required
- Ensure personnel remove PPC/dress down
- Facilitate hydration, nutrition and personal hygiene
- Manage and document movement of personnel through Rehab

- Facilitate medical evaluation or intervention as required

FERG - Safety Officer (Field)
- Safety Officer is responsible through hain of command to the IC
- Preferably be rank of SO or above
- Check general structural safety (walls, roofing etc)
- Ensure use of appropriate procedures (ppc, ppe, hazmat, ba, asbestos, highrise)
- Communicate risks/problems immediately to OO/IC
- Report near misses, accidents, injuries and ensure they are followed up
- IC may allocate more than one Safety Officer depending on incident complexity

FERG - Logistics Officers
- Obtain resources (human and physical), facilities, services and materials to support control of the incident
- Monitor current and expected resources
- Assist PO to produce communications plan
- Establish staging area and rehabilitation requirements
- Develop logistics section of IAP
- Intelligence, Finance and Incestigation are roles usuall incorporated into the Planning, Logistics and Operations functions respectively. IC may determine that the complexity, scale or nature of an incident requires separate functions be established

- Liaison Officer is appointed at incidents where fire brigade resources are deployed but the fire brigade is not the Control Agency. May be used as Deputy IC
