Evacuation Sector Commander
Ensure the Evacuation Sector Commander performs all functions of the role as appropriate
- Maintain position at the premises EWIS to control the evacuation functions
- Implement and coordinate the on-site emergency evacuation plan
- Liaise and coordinate evacuation activities with on-site fire wardens
- Establish an evacuation plan where an on-site emergency plan does not exist
*Ensure appropriate assembly areas are nominated for evacuees
* Determine whether a full or partial evacuation is most appropriate
- Report on all activities related to the evacuation of building occupants to the Ops Officer, or IC where an Ops Point is not established
- Maintain Comms with the Stairwell Safety Officer to
*Gain intelligence from firefighting crews operating in the evacuation sector
* Ensure smooth movement of evacuees via the stairwells
*Ensure safety of egress for evacuees
* Ensure safety of access for Firefighting crews
- Provide information to VicPol and/or AV regarding evacuee numbers and any injuries where required
- Use the WIP phone where normal comms are difficult or impeded
- Liaise with the Lobby Sector Commander to assist with the following:
* Use of the building lifts for evacuating mobility impaired occupants
* The flow of firefighting personnel and evacuees up and down the structure
* The management of the building’s main entrance for access/egress

Why is it important the Evacuation Sector Commander maintains comms with the Stairwell Safety Officer?
- Maintain Comms with the Stairwell Safety Officer to
*Gain intelligence from firefighting crews operating in the evacuation sector - Ensure smooth movement of evacuees via the stairwells

Why does the Evacuation Sector Commander need to liaise with the Lobby Sector Commander
- Liaise with the Lobby Sector Commander to assist with the following:
- Use of the building lifts for evacuating mobility impaired occupants
- The flow of firefighting personnel and evacuees up and down the structure
- The management of the building’s main entrance for access/egress

Lobby Sector Commander
Ensure the Lobby Sector Commander performs all functions of the role as appropriate
- Maintain position in the lobby area of the building’s main entrance
- Control the flow of all personnel into the building, and account for any personnel who enter
- Control the operation of lifts for firefighting personnel and evacuees when required (eg mobility impaired occupants)
- Liaise with the Ops Officer or DEBRiS Officer to ensure adequate firefighting personnel are staged in the lobby
- Ensure the main entrance of the building is kept clear for access and egress
- Establish a tool drop zone in a safe and accessible area for firefighting crews
- Maintain comms with the Evacuation Sector Commander

Stairwell Safety Officer
Ensure the Stairwell Safety Officer performs all functions of the role as appropriate
- Oversee the progress of the building’s evacuation from the Operations Points
- Maintain monitoring of the tenability of the stairwells by considering the following:
* Progress of the evacuation
* Temperature inside the stairwells
* Presence of smoke inside the stairwells
* Levels of fire gases (Eg. CO)
- Ensure regular reports are received from firefighting crews in relation to fire behaviour and evacuation progress
- Supervise crews assisting with evacuation of occupants in the Evacuation Sector
- Ensure firefighting crews don BA where nevessary
- Assist in maintaining access for firefighters and egress for evacuees within stairwells
- Maintain comms with the Evacuation Sector Commander
