What is the minimum PPC/PPE to be worn by crews when Decontaminating others
- Structure Fire or Wildfire PPC
- Consider disposable coveralls to prevent PPC contamination
- Consider donning BA
- P2 mask
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety Glasses

What is the blue decon brush for?
Use low pressure water spray and blue brush from DEBRIS kit to remove visible contaminants on PPC, helmet, BA and gloves.
Particular attention should be given to the BA carrier frame and harness

What is the red decon brush for?
Use the red brush only on the boots for contaminants that are hard to remove.

How to correctly remove BA
- Remove FF Gloves
- Remove FF helmet, place aside
- Remove flash hood while BA still donned and hang from the airline
- Remove BA facemask
- Wipe hands with DekonMate
- Fit P2 mask and nitrile gloves
- Doff BA
- Disconnect facemask and remove flash hood
- Service BA to enable redeployment
*utilise fresh flash hood on redployment

When do appliances need specialist cleaning?
Where internal contamination of a vehicle is suspected.
Ensure it is decontaminated prior to leaving the incident.

Post Incident Hygiene
Shower upon return to station as a priority before re-stowing appliances. Pay particular attention to cleaning hair, neck, face, armpits and groin

Post incident decon of BA and helmet
- Disinfect BA facemask as per OPP 004 - BA - MSA G1 Disinfecting Face Masks where on scene disinfection hasn’t been completed
- Decontaminate Structural Helmet as per OPP 018 - Rosenbauer HEROS-Titan AS Helmet Decon
- Decon BA when on station decon is required as per OPP 003 - BA - MSA G1 Post Fire Cleaning
