Upset with a new tax on whiskey, farmers in Pennsylvania will revolt against the collection of the tax. Washington will send the army to crush the rebellion. It showed that the government had the and will to enforce the law

A

A

Jackson saw him self as the common white man because he was the first president not born into wealth. He worked to extend political power in the US and ensure majority rule. This became known as the Jacksonian democracy. Suffrage was expanded to include all white males

What did Calhoun issue and what did it say

A

Doctrine of nullification, which said a state could reject a federal law they considered unconstitutional. This now became a battle over states rights. Jackson lowered the tariff but South Carolina continued to not follow the law and they threatened to secede. Jackson threatened to use military action(force bill) against South Carolina.
