Great compromise
Senate: equal rep.
House: rep. based on pop.
Significance: each house would have a different way to represent the states
New Jersey plan
Unicameral. Each state would have 1 vote, so that makes equal representation
Significance: proposed a plan similar to the articles of confederation
Virginia plan
3 branches; bicameral;
Significance: shows weakness of the articles of confederation
3/5th Compromise
5 slaves would equal 3 people; applied to population and taxation, but not representation; ended slave trade in 1808
Hammiltons financial plan
- Pay off all war debt- necessary to gain respect globally
- Raise gov. revenues-tariffs
- Create national bank
Compromise: move capital to south in order to get the south to agree
