War of 1812: cause Americans couldn’t but goods from England they made them their self, Inventions: changed way manufactured goods were produced, improvements in transportation: goods could be shipped from east to west in short times

Factories were built in the cities as a result, many people moved to the cities
Steam boat
Fulton; allowed people and goods to travel upstream more quickly, farmers could ship crops more cheaply and manufactured goods shipped back to the farmers were much cheaper as well

Allowed farmers to more efficiently grow crops in the Midwest; grain sold to people in the cities

A way to produce steel faster then before. Rapid steel production helped to feed the rapid growth of the railroads

Increased need for slaves, triggered move westward, planters grew more cotton, more natives were driven off their land

Gibbons vs Ogden
Supreme Court rules that interstate commerce could be regulated only by the federal government, not state governments. Marshall is the Chief Justice- Gibbeons wins

Idea held by many Americans that the US should extend from the west to the east. Americans believed that it was the right to have a Western lands. American Indians believe it was the right to defend their territory

Ended the Mexican American war. Mexico ceded territory between Texas and Pacific ocean to the US , Mexico recognize Texas as part of the US

Manifest destiny was complete, increased sectionalism, large population of Mexicans was introduced to the US-had important cultural and economic influence
