Mast Cells Flashcards
Common at sites in the body that are
exposed to the external environment
MAst cells are found in close proximity to
blood vessels, where they can regulate permeability and effector cell recruitment
they can modulate
behavior of local cell populations, and neighboring effector cells through the release of mediators
Inflammatory mediators of Mast Cells include
Prostaglandins, leukotrienes, platelet activating factor, histamine, heparin, proteases, chronoitin sulfates TNF antimicrobial peptides cytokines chemokines angiogenic factors growth factors
Soem roles of mast cells include
recruit/activate monocytes,macs
migration/activation of dendritic cells
recruit/activate T cells
recruit/activate neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils
phagocytosis and inflammatory activity
effects on epithelial cells, tight junction proteins
degradation of endogenous toxic mediators
degradation of snake venom components
