A

historical views of life

A

mechanistic view: living things are no different from non-living things
can be described by the law of physics and chemistry

vitalistic view: living things have special properties that cannot be described using laws of physics and chem.
according to the vitalistic view, it cannot explain
-self regulation, etc (properties of living things)

organicist view (modern view): living things can be described by the laws of physics and chem but are unique due to their organization and genetic program
