The girl did not realise that she had been praised by everyone.
Xenophon, an excellent leader, saved the Greeks.
We were marching for many hours, but we found no village
Your plan is better than mine, king
We hope that the ship will arrive within a few days
The soldier without fear went into the burning house
τί δώσομεν τούτῳ τῷ γέροντι;
What shall we give to this old man?
Together with the food I also received wine.
As the citizens had fled, no-one was in the marketplace.
The messenger was wounded with a sword.
πόσοι τῶν πάλαι οὕτως ἀσεβεῖς ἦσαν;
How many of the people of old were so impious?
Some of the girls are in the marketplace, others in the house.
I shall return within five days.
The man who was walking to that place saw the disaster
διὰ τί οὐκ ἐκόλασας τὸν παῖδα, ὦ δέσποτα;
Why did you not punish the boy, master?
I seek money for the sake of drinking.
I chased the slave; but he finally escaped.
πότε ἐδέξω τήνδε τὴν ἐπιστολήν;
When did you receive this letter?
The great majority of the people on the ship were already asleep.
The mountain on the island is very beautiful.
The men waiting in the market-place are prisoners.
Did you see the woman who was carrying the food, old man?
ἀρα εἰδες την τον σιτον φερουσαν, ὠ γερον;
I enjoy running.
Are people now wiser than people long ago?
ἀρα οἱ νυν σοφωτεροι εἰσιν ἠ οἱ παλαι;
Some of the citizens praised the speaker, others hated him.
The woman knows that she is skilled.
Don’t go into the river!
I encourage the children always to speak clearly
The stranger, having murdered the king’s son, immediately fled.
I am learning these things in order to become wiser.
τί ἔδωκας τῷ ξένῳ ὃς χθὲς ἀφίκετο;
What did you give to the stranger who arrived yesterday?
Wait, so that we may have a discussion about you!
If you have the gold, hand it over to me!
The teacher asked what I had heard about these things
The boy is so brave that he saved the citizens.
Always seek the truth, boy!
All the people in the city said that they wanted to stay
If you had been there, you would have heard terrible things.
The judge is too wise to speak about these things.
The messenger was sent in order to tell what had happened.
This boy said that he had found the money.
ἆρ’ οὐ θαυμάζεις τὴν τοῦ ποιητοῦ φωνήν;
Surely you admire the poet’s voice?
I am advising you, despite being younger
The prisoner was released on the condition that he would never return here.
This is the woman to whom I gave the book.
When the enemy had been defeated, the Athenians rejoiced.
I asked the woman if she had read the new book.
All the citizens were waiting in order to hear the messenger’s words.
Is this the slave whom you saw yesterday, friend?
ἀρα οὑτος ἐστιν ὁ δουλος ὁν χθες εἰδες, ὠ φιλε;
The children ate so much food that they suffered badly in the night.
τί ἀποκρίνωμαι τῷ ἄρχοντι;
What should I reply to the magistrate?
The messenger said that the enemy had gone away
The general ordered the slave to go away
Whenever that man arrived, I used to hide
I am afraid that I may not receive the letter in time
Everyone admires the girl’s skill
If I had learned everything, I would not have made a mistake
Someone might say that these things are in no way useful.
Stay here until the master returns!
May you be lucky!
ἆρα μὴ φιλεῖς ἐκείνην τὴν βίβλον;
Surely you do not like that book?
Whoever says such things is stupid
If someone else were drawing up these men, they would not be obeying
Unless the allies arrive, we shall soon be in danger
If I were to see the girl again, I would praise her on account of her courage
The people in the city fled so that they would not be enslaved
If the king of Persia is in the city, let us run there.
‘Take the food and eat it’ said the master with a laugh ‘if you want to.’
The teacher said that the work was easy
I asked the woman how many of the children she had seen.
I am afraid that we may be forced to retreat.
What should we reply to the judge?
τί τῳ κριτῃ ἀποκρινωμεθα;
Whenever I heard about the events in Greece I was amazed.
The girls hid in the forest so that they would not be found.
Someone might say that we chose a difficult task.
