The men in the camp thought that the river was still very dangerous.
ἀρα νομιζετε τους δουλους φυγειν;
Do you believe that the slaves have run away?
ὁ κριτης ἐφη δικαιοτατος εἰναι.
The judge said that he was very just
ἐνομιζομεν την πολιν ὀλιγων ἡμερων ληφθησεσθαι.
We thought that the city would be captured within a few days.
αἱ γυναικες οὐκ ἐφασαν τους του ἀγγελου λογους ἀληθεις εἰναι.
The women said that the words of the messenger were not true.
ὁ στρατηγος νομιζει τας παιδας ἀνδρειως τα τειχη φυλαξαι.
The general thinks that the girls guarded the walls bravely.
ὁ στρατηγος οὐκ ἐφη αὐτος τον δημον ἀδικησαι.
The general said that he himself had not wronged the people.
ἀρα νομιζεις τους συμμαχους ἀφιξεσθαι;

αὑτη παρεστι φασκουσα τον υἱον ἀπελθειν.
This woman is here saying that her son has gone away.

The woman knows that she is able to persuade the general

The boy does not realise that the river is wide.
ὁ βασιλευς ἐπυθετο τους στρατιωτας εὐ μαχεσαμενους.
The king found out that the soldiers had fought well
οἱ παιδες μανθανουσι το ἐργον χαλεπον ὀν.
The boys learn that the work is difficult.
ᾐσθομεθα προς την θαλασσαν τελος ἀφικομενοι.
We perceived that we had finally arrived at the sea.
οἱ την πολιν φυλασσοντες ἰσασιν ὁτι ὁ στρατηγος ἀπεθανεν.
The men guarding the city know that the general died.
οἱ Άθηναιοι οὐκ ἐγνωσαν την νοσον γενησομενην.
The Athenians did not realise that the plague was going to happen.
The king hears that all the citizens are amazed
ὁ βασιλευς ἀκουει παντας τους πολιτας θαυμαζοντας.
We heard that the enemy were running away
ἠκουσαμεν τους πολεμιους φευγοντας.
Do you (sg) realise that this slave is very brave?
ἀρα γιγνωσκεις τουτον τον δουλον ἀνδρειοτατον ὀντα;
The girl knows that she is getting angry
ἡ παις οἰδε ὀργιζομενη
The old man did not find out that the boy had helped him
ὁ γερων οὐκ ἐπυθετο τον παιδα ἑαυτῳ βοηθησαντα
