The sea-battle finally ceases
οἱ γεροντες τους νεανιας ἐδιδασκοντο
The old men were getting the young men taught
ὁ ναυτης ἐν τῳ λιμενι κρυπτεται
The sailor hides in the harbour
αἱ παιδες τα χρηματα ἐν τῃ γῃ ἐκρυψαν
The girls hid the money in the ground.
ἡ ἐν τῃ νησῳ νοσος οὐκ ἐπαυετο
The disease on the island was not ceasing
The soldiers are hiding among the trees
οἱ στρατιωται ἐν τοις δενδροις κρυπτονται.
The boy hid the letter
ὁ παις ἐκρυψε την ἐπιστολην.
The terrible battle stops
ἡ δεινη μαχη παυεται.
The judge was getting the boys taught
ὁ κριτης ἐδιδασκετο τους παιδας.
The slave is being taught by the old man
ὁ δουλος διδασκεται ὑπο του γεροντος
ὁ μεν στρατηγος παυεται λεγων, ἡ δε μαχη ἀρχεται
The general stops speaking, and the battle begins
παντες οἱ πολιται τοις νομοις πειθονται
All the citizens obey the laws
που ἐστιν ἡ χωρα ἡς ἀρχεις;
Where is the country which you rule?
αἱ γυναικες οὐκ ἐθελουσιν ἐκεινῳ τῳ ἀνδρι πειθεσθαι
The women are not willing to obey that man
ἀρʹ ἐφυγετε τῳ ἀρχοντι πειθομενοι, ὠ πολιται;
Did you run away because you were obeying the ruler, citizens?
ὁ γιγας τους ἀνδρας αἰσθανομενος ὀργιζεται
The giant gets angry when he notices the men
ἀρα βουλεσθε ἀκουειν τους του ποιητου λογους;
Do you want to hear the words of the poet?
αἱ γυναικες τῳ στρατῳ ἑπονται
The women follow the army
οὑτος ὁ παις φαινεται μωρος εἰναι
This boy appears to be stupid
ὁ γερων αἰσθανεται τον δουλον φευγοντα
The old man notices the slave running away
θαυμαζομεν τους σοφωτατα ἀποκρινομενους
We admire those who reply very wisely
ὁ διδασκαλος τα γιγνομενα ἀει πυνθανεται
The teacher always finds out the things that are happening
οἱ ἐν τῳ ἀγωνι δραμοντες ἀθλα δεχονται
Those who ran in the contest receive prizes
οἱ στρατιωται δια της ὑλης ἐπορευοντο
The soldiers were marching through the wood
τί ἐν τῃ ἀγορᾳ γιγνεται;
What is happening in the market place?
The boy becomes a man
ὁ παις ἀνηρ γιγνεται.
The armies were fighting for ten hours
οἱ στρατοι δεκα ὡρας ἐμαχοντο
All the soldiers want to march to the river
παντες οἱ στρατιωται βουλονται προς τον ποταμον πορευεσθαι.
That old man is now getting angry
ἐκεινος ὁ γερων νυν ὀργιζεται.
The allies are following our general
οἱ συμμαχοι ἑπονται τῳ ἡμετερῳ στρατηγῳ.

The contest about the victory finally began
δια τι οὐκ ἀπεκρινασθε, ὠ ἀνδρες;
Why did you not answer, men?
ὁ περι του πολεμου πυθομενος σοφος ἐστιν
The man who found out about the war is wise.
δεκα ὡρας ἐν τῃ νησῳ ἐμαχεσαμεθα
We fought for ten hours on the island.
τίς εἰδε την τον χρυσον δεξαμενην;
Who saw the woman who had received the gold?
οἱ του γεροντος δουλοι ἐλαβοντο του σιτου
The slaves of the old man took the food for themselves
παντες οἱ στρατιωται τῳ στρατηγῳ τῳ ἀνδρειῳ ἐπιθοντο
All the soldiers obeyed the brave general.
After three days the battle ceased
μετα τρεις ἡμερας ἡ μαχη ἐπαυσατο.
The girls finally received the money
αἱ παιδες τελος ἐδεξαντο τα χρηματα.
The disease began here
ἡ νοσος ἐνθαδε ἠρξατο.
The soldiers fought bravely on the island
οἱ στρατιωται ἐν τῃ νησῳ ἀνδρειως ἐμαχεσαντο.
None of the prisoners of war replied
οὐδεις των αἰχμαλωτων ἀπεκρινατο.
I was saved

All the trees were destroyed by the prisoners.

All the women who had been captured by the enemy were released after two days
