Chapter 9 Flashcards
Fine fish are found in that river, which is very wide.
This horse will never be swift.
The soldiers were marching more slowly as the leader was not present.
The road towards the sea was not wide.
The enemy are following you swiftly but in secret.
Is that food sweet?
ἀρα ἐκεινος ὁ σιτος ἡδυς ἐστιν;
Did you catch a fish in the wide river, slave?
ἀρα ἰχθυν ἐλαβες ἐν τῳ εὐρει ποταμῳ, ὠ δουλε;
We saw very slow horses there
The doctor’s daughter does not eat that sort of food
The master is quickly getting angry
Many of these fish are not big
We waited for a long time, because the road was slow.
We received many gifts and much honour.
The enemy were fighting in the great harbour.
The men in the assembly were finally persuaded by many words.
A big house and many trees were on the island
The old man received much food
Many horses are slower than that one
The general’s wife sent many letters to the prisoners of war
The swift messenger marched towards the harbour
Socrates never acted unjustly towards the citizens.
The prisoners asked the general for both food and water.
τίνες εἰσιν οἱ τουτο το ἐργον ποιησαντες;
Who are the people who did this deed?
The women living in the village usually help those who are retreating.
Love those who seek the good, boy!
The soldier was being wronged by the general.
We found a certain old man who was living in the wood.
τί φιλει γιγνεσθαι μετα τοσαυτην νικην;
What tends to happen after such a great victory?
The citizens used to hate those who were doing such things.
ἀρα ζητεις τα ἐμα χρηματα, ὠ παι;
Are you looking for my money, child?
The slaves asked the doctor for food
The girls, after helping the old man, ran to the house
The wealthy are hated by these citizens
That slave is being treated unjustly by his master
Were you retreating after the battle, allies?
ἀρα ἀνεχωρειτε μετα την μαχην, ὠ συμμαχοι;
ἀρα οἱ του Σωκρατους λογοι ἀει ἀληθεις ἠσαν;
Were the words of Socrates always true?
The unlucky old man has no house.
The boy released the horse with a sword.
Because the walls are strong, we shall be safe there.
ἀρα το ξιφος ἐκει εὑρεθησεται;
Will the sword be found there?
Our army was very weak for many years
The women fared more fortunately than the men.
The boy despite being weak was guarding the wall alone.
Many mountains will hinder those who are retreating
ἀρα ἡ των βαρβαρων γλωσσα ἡδεια ἐστιν;
Is the language of the barbarians pleasant?
I am fortunate because I like the food here.
That slave was being treated unjustly for many years
We admired both the sea and the mountains
The unjust do not love peace
Did you run to help the unfortunate slave?
ἀρα ἐβοηθησας τῳ δυστυχει δουλῳ;
ἀρα εἰδες τους εἰς την πολιν ἀφικνουμενους;
Did you see those who were arriving in the city?
The general after collecting the sailors sailed out of the harbour
The people in the city were safe, despite the walls being weak.
The women who are going to kill the giant are ready.
The king will make no reply to those guarding him.
The cavalry arrived from the fields to the city.
The messenger promised to say everything truthfully.
After capturing the wall, the soldiers will run towards the sea.
When they have seen the plan, the allies will never fight.
We shall all stay in this ship.
Will the allies run out of the city?
ἀρα οἱ συμμαχοι ἐκ της πολεως ἐκδραμουνται;
Having found the letter, the king will get angry.
I saw three ships sailing into the harbour
The woman promised to reply
Why did you take that book, boy?
δια τί ἐλαβες ἐκεινην την βιβλον, ὠ παι;
Always love what is just, friend!
Take this sword!
Never do these bad deeds, citizens!
Stop talking, boy!
Fight bravely in all the battles, soldier!
Chase the slave who is running away, friend!
The general ordered the soldiers to throw stones.
I shall not order these allies to fight here.
Always love the truth, boy!
ἀρα βουλῃ την πολιν ληφθηναι;
Do you want the city to be captured?
Take a sword and fight, fool!
Call the man who is chasing the horses, woman!
I do not fear the fight that is going to be stopped.
Sail into the harbour now, young men!
The soldiers were ordered to find the road through the mountains.
Take the money, girls!
The master ordered the slave to throw a big stone
Always trust the teacher, boy!
Eat this food, citizens!
The generals were ordered by the king to capture the city
ἀρʹ ἐξεστι τῃ ἐκκλησιᾳ τα περι της ναυμαχιας μαθειν;
Is it possible for the assembly to learn the things about the sea-battle?
It is necessary for all those present to run away immediately.
The generals decided to attack the country of the enemy
We ought to have helped the prisoners.
The children were intending to ask their father for money.
In the wood it is difficult to find those who ran away.
The slaves promised to do the things that had been ordered.
This girl hopes to get to know the words quickly
Those who had been captured had to wait there for a long time.
The judge decided to accept the book.
It is necessary for the allies to suffer bad things
It was possible for the women to hear all the words
The teacher decided to send another letter
Did the girl promise to find the books?
ἀρα ὑπεσχετο ἡ παις τας βιβλους εὑρησειν;
It is good to receive such gifts
