(a) except that in buildings lawfully occupied as garages prior to 12-6-68 , storage of 45,000 gallons or less of product having a flash point over 100 degrees F in the cargo space of tank truck or other vehicles approved for such storage by the fire commissioner, pending delivery, shall not be deemed to require sprinkler protection.

2.10 An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed in Group R fire areas and buildings with a main use or dominant occupancy of Group R. (BC 903.2.7)
Exception: An automatic sprinkler system is NOT required in detached one and two family dwellings and multiple single family dwellings (Town houses) that do not exceed 3 stories above grade and have separate means of egress.

2.17.6 An automatic sprinkler system shall be installed throughout buildings with a floor level having an occupant load of 30 or more that is located 55 feet or more above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access. (BC 903.2.10.3)
