All of the AirTrain stations are fully enclosed structures.
All stations have smoke detectors, heat detectors and automatic sprinkler protection.
A Blue Light Station Power Removal Box is located at each end of each platform. Inside the Blue Light Station Power Removal Box there is a red power removal button, which when depressed, de-energizes both inbound and outbound tracks on the guideway for at least the entire length of the station platform. The Blue Light Station Power Removal Box also has a schematic that will show the section of the guideway that has been de-energize
There are no front or rear doors on AirTrain cars.
In an emergency, side exit doors can be opened from the inside or outside by activating an emergency door release handle, and pulling the door open. The door release handle is located alongside the door on the interior and exterior of the car.
If the train is stopped outside a station and the Emergency Door Release is pulled, the door will not open unless the Release Handle pulled is on the side of the train where a walkway is located.

The entire guideway is provided with service walkways. These walkways are similar to the catwalks/benchwalls found in the MTA NYC Transit system, but they are at track level on the guideway. These walkways will be adjacent to the track, and are either center, or side walkways.
Center Walkways will be located between the two tracks, and are 51⁄2 feet wide.
Side Walkways are located on the outside of the track area, and are 21⁄2 feet wide.
Side walkways will also be provided with approximately 3-foot high handrails.
