What does newcastle disease cause in birds?
High mort/morb,
various resp signs (gasp, cough, gurgling),
drooping wings,
dragging legs,
head twist,
green watery D,
partial/complete cessation of egg production,
abnormal egg shells (shape/colour)
What does avian influenza cause in birds?
High mort/morbidity,
head oedema,
depression,
cyanosis (skin/comb/wattle),
dec egg production
diarrhoea
What does pigeon paramyxovirus cause in birds?
Green watery D
depression
decreased exercise,
inappetent,
sudden mortality.
May have nervous signs before D (droopy wing, partial paralysis of wings/legs)
What are some non infectious causes of sudden death in birds?
yolk sac infec,
gumboro,
starve out,
acute death syndrome,
prolapsed oviduct
What is erysipelas?
E. rhusiopathiae, g+ve, spore forming
usually found dead/ feverish
Affects large flocks
What is acute pasteurellosis in birds?
P. multocida, g-ve, non-spore forming
Affects large flocks, turkeys more prevalent, seen in Juves
Found dead
