• label three test tubes: buffered ph solution, amylase solution and starch solution
• place one drop of iodine into each well on the spotting tile
• put the labelled test tubes in a water bath and leave until they reach 25 degrees
• add 2cm3 of each solution to a test tube

• start the stop clock
• mix the solutions using a glass rod
• add a drop into the first well after 30 seconds and keep mixing
• repeat this until two consecutive wells are orange
• repeat with a different ph
