Day 15/16 appendicular Flashcards
What are the 7 muscles that move the scapula?
trapezius (pulls spine up)
serratus anterior (protraction and upward rotation of scapula)
levator scapulae
(elevates the scapula)
Rhomboid minor (adducts and performs downward rotation)
Rhomboid Major (adducts and performs downward rotation)
Pectoralis minor
subclavius
what are 7 mescules that also function with the muscles that move the arm but have no contact with arm?
levator scapulae perctoralis minor rhomboid minor rhomboid major serratus anterior subclavius trapezius
Muscles that move the arm:
5 muscles that move the arm and the movement they perform? (anterior)
subscapularis: medial rotation
coracobrachialis : adduction, flexion
deltoid: abduction (flexion, med rotation extension and lateral rotation)
pectoralis major: flex abducts and medial rotation
biceps brachii: flexion
Muscle that move the arm (posterior) and what they do
Supraspinatus: abduction
Infraspinatus: lateral rotation
Subscapularis : medial rotation
Teres Major: extension and medial rotation
Teres Minor : adduction and lateral rotation
Triceps Brachii: extension
Latissimus dorsi: extension, adduction, medial rotation
Deltoid posterior fibres : extension
what muscles insert into the inter tubercular groove?
Name a movement where they (or two) are synergists, and a movement that they antagonists.
Pectoralis major
Latissimus Dorsi
Teres Major
Synergists: Adduction, medial rotation
Antagonists: flexion/extension
3 bony articulations in the elbow and what movements
humeroulnar (flex/extend) humeroradial (felt/extend), proximal radioulnar (supinate/pronate)
purpose of ante brachial interosseous membrane?
coordinate proximal and distal RD joints movements
ligaments in elbow (three)
radial collateral, ular collateral, annular
muscles for flexion of forearm
biceps brachii, brachialis, brachioradialis *****not coracobrachialis
does the brachioradialis affect the hand?
no it inserts on the head of the radius
two main extensors of the forearm
anconeus and triceps brachii
muscles that extend the hand at the wrist
extensor carpi radialis longus
extensor carpi ulnas
extensor carpi radialis brevis
extensor digitorum
muscles that supinate the hand and their insertion
insert on radial tuberosity, biceps brachii and supinator
muscles that pronate the hand and where to they insert
pronator teres (inserts on radius below tuberosity, pronator quadratum (ulna to radius distal end)
muscles for flexion of the hand at the wrist
flexor digitorum superficialis flexor digitorum profundus flexor carpi radialis flexor carpi ulnaris palmaris longus
three carpals we need to know
scaphoid, lunate, trapezium
wrist joints: what and what type
radio carpal= condylar
inter carpal = planar joints
joints in hand
interphalangeal
metacarpophanlangeal
carometacarpal
which groups of muscles are involved in making a fist good for a punch?
flexors and extensors
intrinsic hand muscles for MCP joints how and IP joints how?
flex MCP and extend IP
how many dorsal interossie muscles? how many palmar?
3 palmar 4 dorsal
thenar eminence?
muscles of the thumb
hypothenar eminence?
muscles of the pinky
what muscles groups allow adduction and abduction of the the hand?
abduction=radial extensors and flexors
adduction = ulnar extensors and flexors
