Adenomyosis
benign ingrowth of the endometrium into the uterine musculature
Chocolate cysts
cysts that are composed of old endometrial tissue that is found outside of the uterus with endometriosis
Corpus luteum
a yellow endocrine body formed in the ovary at the site of a ruptured ovarian follicle
Cryptorchidism
failure of one or both testes to descend into the scrotum
Dermoid
teratoma
Dysmenorrhea
difficult and painful menstruation
Endometriosis
tissue that resembles the endometrial lining of the uterus that is located in abnormal locations within the pelvic cavity
Epididymitis
inflammation of the epididymis

benign neoplasm commonly found in the breast

enlargement of the male breast
Hydrocele
collection of fluid in the testes or along the spermatic cord

a benign smooth muscle tumor

permanent cessation of the menses

the period of time in which an egg matures, ruptures from the ovary, enters into the uterus through the fallopian tube, and endometrium of the uterus sloughs off
Nulligravida
a woman who has never conceived a child
Nullipara
a woman who has never given birth to a child
Orchiectomy
Excision of one or both testes
Orchiopexy
Fixation of undescended testes in the scrotum
Ovulation
Release of mature ova from the ovarian follicle
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
inflammation of the fallopian tubes (uterine tubes)
Polycystic ovarian disease
an endocrine disorder resulting from long-term anovulation, in which the enlarged ovaries contain many follicles that fail to reach maturity and rupture
Prostatic calculi
a concentration of calcium formed in the prostate gland
Prostatic hyperplasia
benign enlargement of the prostate gland leading to urinary dysfunction
Pyosalpinx
accumulation of pus in the fallopian tube
Seminomas
malignant neoplasm of the testes
Spermatocele
cystic dilation of the epididymis containing spermatozoa
Spermatogenesis
the entire process by which spermatogonial stem cells divide and differentiate in sperm
Teratoma
a true neoplasm, either benign or malignant, made up of different types of tissue, usually found in an ovary or testes (also called a dermoid)
Testicular torsion
the twisting of the testicle upon its cord within the scrotum
Tubal ovarian abscess
an abscess formation in the pelvic adnexa region of the ovary and the uterine tubes
