cleaved to 6-MP —> TIMP —> 6-MeMPN (inhibit purine synthesis)
so antimetabolite decreases DNA & RNA synthesis

Myelosupression (monitor FBC)
increased risk of malignancy & infection
hepatitis (monitor LFT)
