87 - Safari Yetu Flashcards
So, we came back home again. On the way, we passed two men who were planting maize seeds.
Basi, tukarudi nyumbani, tena. Njiani, tukapita wanaume wawili waliokuwa wakipanda mbegu za mahindi.
Why are you planting now, we asked, and they replied, ‘we always plant our seeds this month on account of the rain which comes early this side of the valley. We continued on our way.
Tukaendelea zetu.
After walking for about 4 hours we got very tired and sat under a tree in the pleasant shade. My companion said to me, “I need some food. Do you think any food at all is obtainable about here?”
Mwenzangu akaniambia, “nahitaji chakula. Unafikiri chakula cho chote kinapatekana huku?”
I don’t know, I answered him. Go and ask that farmer there if he can tell you where we shall be able to get some.
“Sijui,” nikamjibu “nenda ukamwulize mkulima Yule pale kama anaweza kutuambia tutakapoweza kukipata.”
So he went to ask that farmer who told him that there was a shop in the village which was very suitable for a meal. So we continued to walk to the village where we saw the shop and satisfied ourselves with food, and went in our way.
Basi tukaendelea kutembea kijijini tulipoliona duka, tukashiba tukaenda zetu.
The other day, we went to see my friend called Hamisi, who lives near the Ruvu river. When we got there, we saw that he had gone away to Mombasa.
