6B Enthalpy level diagrams Flashcards
1
Q
energy level diagrams for exothermic reactions are always
A
the final enthalpy of a system is less than the initial enthalpy
2
Q
energy level diagrams for endothermic reactions are always
A
the final enthalpy is more than the initial enthalpy
3
Q
what is the equation for change in enthalpy
A
H(products) - H (reactants)
4
Q
what are 4 things to remember while constructing an enthalpy level diagram
A
- always label the y axis but you don’t have to label the x-axis but if you want to label it extent of reaction or progress of reaction
- you have to write both the product and the reactants with there symbol states
- you always have to include the enthalpy number change with the correct sign
- you don’t have to include the activation energy
