Aucun(e) - (general rules)

A
  • Can be used with “ne” instead of “pas” (more emphatic)
  • When replacing “pas” before a noun, you don’t need “de” (so: “Il n’a pas de collègue” -but- “Il n’a aucun collègue.”)
  • You can put “aucun(e)” in front of the noun, with “ne” following
  • Has the meaning of “not a single one”
  • Always precedes nouns that are always plural (ex: “vacances” is always “les vacances,” so you’d always put “aucun” before the noun)
  • “Aucun(e)” cancels out articles! No more “de,” etc.
