Why is smoking dangerous?
Smoking increases chances of getting breathing problems, cancer, heart attacks and strokes.
What else does smoking increase?
Smokers are over 20% more likely going to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.
How does smoking affect other peoples health as well as theirs?
The smoke increases chances of circulatory and respiratory conditions increases and it is known as passive smoking.
What can passive smoking do to pregnant women?
It greatly increases their chance of miscarriage as well as if they smoke themselves. Apart from this, it can also decrease the baby’s weight from the effect of the fetus.
What happens if parents start smoking when a baby is born?
It increases the chance of sudden-infant-death syndrome (cot death) and respiratory illness, such as bronchitis and pneumonia.

They affect alveoli in your lungs. Their walls become weakened so they do not inflate properly when you inhale. Could burst during coughing. Reduces the amount of blood has oxygen making the person breathless.
Give a definition of respiratory infections.
Cells in windpipe produce mucus and traps dirt and microorganisms. They can sweep mucus into your stomach by cilia which keep your airways clean but smoke stops cilia from moving. It allows mucus to sweep into your stomach making it harder to breath causing infection. Smokers cough can damage it more.
