Y8-Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is phyosynthesis ?
It is the process where the plant uses sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and water into glucose ( food ) and oxygen.
Photosynthesis word equation
Carbon dioxide + water = glucose + oxygen
Photosynthesis symbol equation
6CO2 + 6H20 = C6H1206 + 602
What is glucose
Glucose (sugar) is the product of carbon dioxide + water , when reacted to sunlight through photosynthesis in a plant.
Glucose is the plants’ self made source of nutrition
What two reactants are required to produce glucose
Water
Carbon dioxide
What does water and carbon dioxide react with to make glucose
Sunlight ( energy )
Intake process of water
Rainfall or water is caught on the plant and taken into the roots, absorbed by the root hair cells.
Intake process of Carbon dioxide
From the air ,the carbon dioxide is taken onto the plant the stoma
What is the stoma
A pore in the plant structure that allows gases in and out of the leaf
How is sunlight converted into energy
Through the chlorophyll , found im chloroplasts
What is the 2 products of photosynthesis
Glucose (food , nutrition)
Oxygen ( a product of plant respiration (energy release)
Glucose(sugar) is stored in the plant as
Starch
Glucose sugar is transported around the plant as…
Sucrose
