Y7 The Eye Flashcards
What is Myopia?
Myopia is when the eye lens refract and the light rays don’t meet at the same time at the retina because they collide into each other.
What can correct myopia?
A concave lens can be used in order to help fix myopia by refracting the rays more out so they can reach the retina properly.
What is Hyperopia?
Hyperopia is a problem that light rays are refracted but they pass the retina and don’t meet at the same time.
What can correct Hyperopia?
You can correct it by using a convex lens which converse the light rays so they can reach the retina properly.
What are the main causes of Myopia and Hyperopia?
The shape of the eye can affect how the light rays can get to the retina.
What does the lens do?
It refracts the light rays so it can reach the retina.
What is the pupil?
The pupil is a hole where light can pass through but a layer is cornea is protecting it.
What is an iris?
A genetic appearance in the eye.
What is the job of an optic nerve?
To send the light rays to the brain so you can see the image.
What else does the brain do?
It turns the image upside down because our eyes see things upside down but our brain flips it.
Usually, what is the shape of the eye when you have 20:20 vision?
A round circle
Usually, what is the shape of the eye for people who have myopia?
A rugby ball shape horizontally
Usually, what is the shape of people’s eyes when they have hyperopia?
A rugby ball shape vertically
