A different form of a gene.

What is a dominant allele?
An allele that only needs to be present in one of the two alleles to be expressed.
What is a recessive allele?
An allele that needs to be present in both alleles to be expressed.

What does homozygous mean?
Having a pair of the same alleles.
What does heterozygous mean?
Having two different alleles.
What is a genotype?
The allele pair e.g. Bb, BB, bb
What is a phenotype?
The physical/observable trait e.g. brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes
