Y7 Cells Flashcards
Cell Wall:
The second barrier around the cell and it keeps the plant cell firm.
Magnification:
Is the power of how many times bigger you see something but it doesn’t actually increase in size in real life.
Specialised Cells
A cell that is specialised to do something and can only do that thing.
Resolution
Resolution is a solution to a problem.
Vacuole
It contains liquids called cell sap.
Diffusion
It is when an area of high concentration tries to spread out to places of low concentration so everywhere has an even amount of concentration.
Nucleus
It controls the cell and contains the DNA-the information needed to make new cells.
Organisms
It is a living thing.
Chloroplasts
It is found in a plant cell and is made out of chlorophyll . It collects sunlight for the plant and helps in photosynthesis .
Cytoplasm
It is where chemical reactions take place .
Cell membrane
It controls what comes in and out and it is the first barrier around the cell.
Mitochondria
It is where respiration happens.
MRS GREN
Movement Reproduction Sensitivity Growth Respiration Excretion Nutrition
Microscope
It is used to see microscopic objects, organisms or cells through the eye piece lens.
Slide
It is where you put the cell to be seen under the microscope.
Cell
It is what it is what all living things are made out of.
Unicellular Organisms
They are cell that are organisms only using a single cell.
Multicellular
Are cells that aren’t organisms by themselves but are organisms together.
Specimen
Something that needs to be viewed under the microscope.
Nerve Cell Adaptations
They carry electric impulses around the body. They are long and thin and has lot of connections and this helps it transmit messages around the body .
Egg Cell Adaptations
It has a jelly layer to attract sperm cells. It a nucleus and cytoplasm with fat stores.
Sperm Cell Adaptations
It has a streamlined head and a tail and a nucleus in the head to help it swim to the egg cell
Root Hair Cell Adaptations
It absorbs water and nutrients from the soil. These cells have no chloroplasts because it is underground and it does not need photosynthesis unlike plant cells.
Red Blood Cell adaptations
It transports oxygen around the body and contains haemoglobin to join to oxygen it does not have a nucleus so it can contain oxygen . And they have a disc-like surface to also increase area for carrying oxygen .
