coaching: taught by existing employee how to perform
mentoring: watch existing employees and learn from advice
job rotation: complete a number of jobs to see how they interconnect
job shadowing: follow an experienced worker

advantages: employee gains specific experience with relevant equipment, cost effective, work while being trained, tricks of the trade
disadvantages: quality of trainer, poor habits, the trainer not working

advantages: won’t be distracted by work environment, morale being selected, social networks, broader range of knowledge, qualifications
