agreements and awards
enterprise agreements and modern awards contain minimum entitlements for wages and conditions of of employment. some employees are not covered by an award or an agreement for those employees, a national minimum wage order provides safety net.
national employment standards
max 38 hours p/w, request flexible working, parental leave, annual leave, personal/careers leave, community service leave, long service leave, public holidays, notice of termination, provide the FWC statement
awards
provides pay rates and conditions of employment for a particular industry or occupation. received by FWC, employees can’t be payed less than the stipulated award.
advantages:
wages equality over entire industry
negotiations are predictable
employees can be represented by unions
disadvantages:
less flexible to the needs of the actual business
hard to build individual productivity incentives
strong unions may influence decisions
no incentives for local employee employer incentives
agreements
contracts made at the business level between employers and employees about terms and conditions of employment. enterprise bargaining is used to make a enterprise agreement. fwc provides information anda proves the agreement. advantages: flexible to needs of business individualised productivity incentives good employee employer relations. disadvantages: less wages equality and transparency, less collective employee strength
