if a manager is not convinced or fears the ability to lead the change it can seriously hinder the success of the change
employees
often the ones impacted most by change, it can bring on fears and anxiety within employees, fail to see the reason behind it or fear their job security. employees need to be communicated with and supported.
time
the time required to change business operations, procedures or even products or services can be significant. a business might lack the time to implement the change successfully. businesses also need to act quickly against competitors to foresee change and implement successfully.
organizational inertia
is a business lack of ability to respond to pressures and embrace change, often occurring in stable traditional businesses where holding onto long-held traditions make it too hard to bring about change
legislation
laws and legislation make it hard to implement change in the business’s desired way, an example of this is foreign ownership laws that prevent Australian businesses from having a major overseas investment.
financial considerations
a business may have the intention to change but may not have the required financial resources to implement the desired change successfully.
