What did Hitler want?
Anschluss with Austria so that all German speaking people could be united under a single Gross Deutschland and so he could take advantage of their industries and raw materials.
What did Engelbert Dollfuss say to this?
No. He then he appealed to the League of Nations for help, who did nothing. After this he banned the Austrian Nazi party.
What did Hitler then do?
Hitler encouraged Austrian Nazis to carry out demonstrations in favour of Anschluss and organized a coup which captured Austrian political buildings and killed Engelbert Dollfuss. However the coup failed due to poor organization and Anschluss was not achieved because Italian troops intimidated Germany at the Border.
What happened after the death of Dollfuss?
Chancellor Schuschnigg came to power to regain control of the situation.
