Initial propaganda
1) The idea of ‘Strong Germany’ under Nazi rule
2) Germans were encouraged to hate the countries that signed the ToV
3) Goebbels created the ‘Hitler Myth’, which made Hitler seem like the saviour of Germany. This was ‘cult of the Fuhrer’
4) It suggested that Jews were Germany’s biggest problem
5) The Nazis wanted to return to traditional German values and the revival of culture.
The Government had to approve all Artistic Works
Goebbels founded thee Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda in 1933. It had departments for music, theatre, film, literature, and radio. All creators had to get their work approved.
Nazi methods of propaganda
1) Sold cheap radios called ‘the people’s receiver’ which controlled broadcasts.
2) They controlled Newspapers. By 1944, 82% had been bought by the Nazis
3) They produced hundreds of films which showed the strength of the Nazis and Hitler, and weaknesses of their opponents
4) They created posters showing the evil of Germany’s enemies and the power of Hitler including the famous slogan ‘bread, work, freedom!’
