Nazi racial policy Flashcards
Hitler wanted to cleanse Germany of inferior minorities
Nazis believed in the Aryan master race and that Jews did not belong in Germany. Hitler considered them as ‘filthy’ and claimed that they were the source of national problems
How did he do this?
1) Gypsies and Slavs were sent to concentration camps
2) People with mental and physical disabilities were sterilised against their will
3) Homosexuals were executed in public
How did the Nazis change the law to discriminate against Jews?
1) In 1933, the SA organised a national boycott of Jewish businesses. This wasn’t popular with the people, so they decided to warp the legal system to persecute them.
2) Over time, Jews were banned from certain jobs
3) They were forced to sell their businesses and banned from employment. Children were banned from schools and public places such as parks.
What were the Nuremberg Laws
1) They were passed in 1935 and based on the idea that Jews were biologically different to Aryans
2) They removed their legal rights and and were encouraged to be seen as inferior
3) They banned interracial marriages between Jews and Aryans
4) They stopped Jews from being German citizens
