Basis
World War I started in 1914 and fighting ended with the armistice on November 11th 1918. The winners (UK, France, and the USA) or know as the allies then had to agree on a peace treaty with the losers.
What happened to countries like Belgium as a result of WWI?
They were completely devastated. Millions were dead and inured and the war had cost them huge sums of their own money.
What did the allies know?
That Germany was beaten and retreating and that they were in a state of political chaos (troop morale was very low)
What happened in Germany as a result of the surrender
Sailors in the German navy mutinied on the 3rd November 1918 and there were revolts across Germany, especially outside the Reichstag
What were Germany’s following actions?
They decided to ask for an armistice (temporary peace). The allied decided to grant their request and not soon after established the 1918 armistice.
